BT RE-DESIGNS BT BROADBAND LANDING-PAGE
TO OFFER USERS NEW SERVICES.

BT Broadband, BT’s access-only high speed internet product, has re-designed its landing-page web site to offer users a range of value-added services and promotions through a number of new and existing partners.

The new site can be viewed at www.btbroadbandstart.com.

The site now provides a broadband platform for businesses to showcase their content and services to BT Broadband customers. Recent partnerships include Virgin Megastores; Thomas Cook; Warner Bros, Sainsbury’s, American Airlines, Discovery Channels, FT.com and Ocado (Waitrose’s online delivery partner). In addition a number of partners are now offering exclusive discounts and promotions through the new landing-page. Brands such as Thomas Cook, Warner Bros, American Airlines and Sainsbury’s have teamed up with BT Broadband to offer discounts on products and services.

The re-designed landing page is amongst the first generation of sites to be built exclusively for broadband users. Users now select one of the 11 core interest areas ranging from entertainment, games and movies to sport, travel and food. The site uses a “Video Wall” to bring each of these areas to life on the screen – engaging the user and making the navigation process more intuitive for.

New features on the page also include Partner News and the BT Broadband Email Newsletter where BT Broadband customers can receive up-to-date and relevant partner news via email.

The re-design is part of BT Broadband’s on-going commitment to offer its users a one-stop shop directing them to the best and most compelling broadband content and services currently available. The landing-page highlights a range of over 80 partners - large and small – helping BT Broadband users get the most out of their broadband connection.

“We believe the refreshed BT Broadband landing page is central to BT Broadband’s strategy of the acquisition and retention of BT Broadband customers,” said Simon Jackson, Head of BT Broadband Partnerships. “We are working to ensure that the BT Broadband landing-page develops to meet not only the evolving needs of our customers but also showcases the broadband services and applications developing within the broadband marketplace."

“ The companies we have partnered with to date - and those we continue to actively seek – view broadband as playing an increasingly important role in their strategy. This means, while we are keen to bring our customers great content and services from big name brands, we are also keen to partner with lesser know brands who can offer niche and compelling broadband services”

About BT Broadband
BT Broadband provides "always-on", high-speed direct access to the internet over a home phone line, enabling users to download more content faster. A simple plug and play set up makes it easy for customers to install themselves.

BT Broadband is £27 a month by Direct Debit or £28 otherwise. Free activation charge is available until June 30, 2003. This represents a saving of £60. New subscribers will also be able to buy a broadband modem for just £50, a saving of £30. BT Broadband is compatible with most email services including BT Openworld email.

Broadband is subject to availability and survey and requires a BT single PSTN telephone line. A 12 months minimum term applies from date of activation. Broadband costs are in addition to normal PSTN line rental and voice/data call charges. Broadband is not available to certain lines and services. Minimum PC specification required.

BT Broadband will provide up to 512k internet access to the customer's computer and 64k to 256k from the customer's machine via a broadband connection, from where customers can access internet services. This speed is widely accepted as the current standard of broadband speed and is up to 10 times faster than PSTN.

BT Broadband is a mass-market consumer broadband product, designed for customers downloading up to 1 gigabyte of data a day. This means customers would be able to download approximately 200 music tracks, 650 short videos, 10,000 pictures, or around 100 large software programmes every day.
